This recording will showcase three of Kevin’s multi-movement compositions:

Three English Carols

A set of a cappella pieces (There is no rose, Adam lay ybounden, and I sing of a maiden), exploring timeless texts with a fresh harmonic approach.

Annunciation

An expressive setting of poetry by contemporary hymn writer Jeannette Lindholm, reflecting on the mystery of Mary’s encounter with the angel Gabriel.

Vidimus Stellam

A cantata for choir and brass quintet that interweaves chant-inspired melodies with vibrant choral textures and rhythmic energy.

Kevin is widely known for his research and performance of early American music, particularly his choral arrangements of Shaker music. The works featured on this recording are deeply inspired by medieval and Renaissance music traditions, and highlight a different side of Kevin’s creative work. The Byrd Ensemble’s expertise in the performance of Renaissance polyphony perfectly complements the style of these compositions, and this recording will be a significant step towards making these works available to a broader audience.

This project requires significant resources, including the renting of space, hiring of performers, recording, and post-production. Your contribution will help us share this music with a worldwide audience.

We are thrilled to announce a new recording project featuring the music of composer Kevin Siegfried.
