Professional Choral Affiliates Program

The Byrd Ensemble Professional Choral Affiliates (PCA) program provides assistance to new professional-level choral groups that intend to become self-sustaining professional arts organizations that employ their musicians. The most beneficial aspect of the program is that it provides a means for Professional Choral Affiliates to request donations as tax-deductible contributions.  The purpose of the program is to encourage the formation of professional choral groups.

The program is offered for a minimum of one year and a maximum of three years.

TYPES OF ASSISTANCE PROVIDED
1. For those without 501c3 nonprofit status, Byrd Ensemble will serve as a fiscal sponsor and recipient for donations or grants the Professional Choral Affiliate obtains. Donations will be accounted for and forwarded to the PCA groups.
2. Access to Byrd Ensemble mailing list and media contacts.
3. Concert advertisements in Byrd Ensemble publicity materials.
4. Administrative and marketing assistance.

ELIGIBILITY
Any professional level choral ensembles (any size) that have been in existence 5 years or less are welcome to apply for PCA status. Interested choral groups must have intentions to present a regular concert series and become a self-sustaining arts organization that employs their singers. Special considerations are given to groups that perform in underserved areas (Tacoma, Puyallup, etc.) in addition to Seattle.

BASIS OF AWARD OF PROFESSIONAL CHORAL AFFILIATE STATUS
1. Musical quality
2. A plan to become self-sustaining organization
3. Repertoire focus

DECISION
Byrd Ensemble board of directors will vote to grant PCA status.
